Flat feet is a very common condition seen in both adults and children. In many instances, there is not much pain which results from this disorder. These cases do not require aggressive or any treatment.
However, in many children and eventually adults, the condition can result in constant discomfort, inability to be walking or standing for extended periods and can cause considerable disability.
Treatments for flat feet can consist of over the counter arch supports, corrective shoes, custom orthotic devices or corrective surgery. Depending upon the severity of the condition and the pain that is produced, surgery can be relatively minor or involve significant reconstruction.
